Every school year, KPark Band students undertake a unique third-quarter project: preparing either a solo or a small ensemble piece. They have the option to showcase their performance at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) UIL Region 33 Solo & Ensemble competition or participate in a performance at KPark. We wholeheartedly encourage all KPark Band students to participate in this transformative experience!

The process of preparing and performing a solo or ensemble piece, either individually or as part of a small group, holds immense value for a student's musical growth. It is a required activity for most students, and we strongly recommend that they begin seeking out music and an accompanist well in advance. Ideally, students should select their music and secure their accompanist before Thanksgiving Break to ensure a smooth and rewarding experience.
